Gerald was born at Estes Park, Colorado to Fred Arthur and Gertrude Pearl (Alps). In 1930 the Mack family moved to Lyons, a town he dearly loved. He would grow up here, raise his family and serve his community right up until his death. Gerald served in the United States Air Force as a gunner in a B-29 Super Fortress. Gerald's interests included genealogy, Colorado Rockies and reading, but his first priority was being a father and grandfather. He enjoyed hunting and traveling, both took him far away including safaris in Africa and dove hunting in Argentina. Gerald's occupations included apple farmer, chicken farmer, business manager and real estate developer. He proudly served on the Board of the Boulder County Crime Stoppers, Lyons Library, Lyons Cemetery and Longmont Genealogical Society.
Gerald was preceded in death by son, Joel Evan in 1983; brother, Allen; and his parents. He was married to Rebecca Coalson and they later divorced.
He will be deeply missed by son Vince, daughter-in-law, Thao, and grandson, Joseph; son, Adam, his daughter-in-law, Karen, and their children, Megan and Gerald; his brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Joanne Mack; his sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Don Hagan; and several nieces and nephews and virtually all that knew him.
Services were held May 3, at the Old Stone Church in Lyons.
