Elder Jerry Lane Hopson passed away March 17, 2012, at Madisonville Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, Ky.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Dominion Christian Center, 612 Madison Street, Providence, KY 42450, with Dr. Marshall Chambers, Eulogist. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Burial in Cumberland Hill African American Cemetery Providence, Ky. Brookshaven Funeral Home Hopkinsville, Ky., is in charge of arrangements.
He was born April 20, 1949, in Providence, Ky.,to the late Weltmer and Oreather Hopson. He was a 1967 graduate of Providence High School. He served his country in the United States Armed Forces and branch of the Army, a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was awarded several medals of Honor and was honorably discharged.
He is survived by his wife, Jerlene Chambers-Hopson; children, Wendy (Lee) Lewis, Louisville, Ky., Timothy (Susan) Fisher, Charleston, S.C.; grandchildren, Azalee Belle and Nalasea England; brother, Pastor W.R. (JoAnn) Hopson, Henderson, Ky.; sisters, Sharon (Donald) Calhoun, Evansville, Ind., Tempe Hopson, Providence, Ky.; aunts, Eula Holloman, Providence, Ky., Ruby Leavell, Madisonville, Ky.; several other relatives and friends.

Elder Jerry L. Hopson, 62, died Saturday, March 17, 2012, at Regional Medical Center. He was born April 20, 1949, in Providence, was employed at Whirlpool Corp. in Evansville and an Army veteran who received several medals. He attended Dominion Christian Center where he was an assistant pastor.

Survivors include his wife, Jerlene Hopson; daughter Wendy Lewis; son Timothy Fisher; sisters Sharon Calhoun and Tempe Hopson; and two grandchildren.

Visitation is after 11 a.m. today at Dominion Christian Center, Providence, with services at 1 p.m. Burial: Williams Memorial Garden, Providence. Brooks Haven Funeral Home, Hopkinsville, is in charge of arrangements.
