Sacred to the Memory of Mrs. Mary Ann Doughty who departed this world for a better one on the 1st of November 1802 in the 22nd year of her age. She was the most affectionate, dutiful of daughters, the tender and indulgent of wives, the kind mistress, the safe, sincere and most generous of friends. Her disconsolate husband has erected this marble as a monument to her beloved memory. Sleep on my love, wait the almighty's will to rise again and be an angel still at that blessed hour. We'll meet at yonder sky to love once more and never more to die.
