Windsor MO - Lena Gray Harms, 89, of Windsor, Missouri, died Thursday afternoon, May 25, 2006, at Windsor Healthcare and Rehabilitation. She was born August 7, 1916, west of Palo, Mo., in Benton County, the daughter of Joseph Perry Rains and Emma Mary (Shanks) Rains. On April 14, 1943, in Lincoln, Mo., she was married to Earl Elmer Harms, who survives of the home near Windsor. Mrs. Harms was a homemaker and a farmer's wife. She raised chickens for many years and sold eggs to the former Grain Belt Hatchery in Windsor. She always raised a large garden and loved cooking for her family. She also enjoyed growing roses and violets, reading, and doing embroidery, but most of all she loved taking care of her family. Lena Gray was a member of Hickory Chapel Methodist Church, rural Lincoln, Mo. In addition to her husband, survivors include 3 sons, Larry Harms and his wife Joy, Windsor, Mo., Wayne Harms, Windsor, Mo., and Duane Harms and his wife Carolyn, Leeton, Mo.; a daughter, Mary Kay Howard, Windsor, Mo.; 8 grandchildren, Deanna Williams, Mark Harms, Elizabeth Harms, Sheila Hadley, Shannon Howard, Sarah Carroll, Davin Harms, and Danette Gilliatt; 9 great-grandchildren, Kelley Bennefeld, Cody Bennefeld, Ryan Earl Harms, Jesse Sanders, Lauren Hadley, Erin Hadley, Ashtyn Howard, Hayden Howard, and Abigail Gilliatt; 3 cousins, Mary Long, Lexington, Mo., Margaret Schlichting, Branson, Mo., and June Bohmont, Reno, Nevada; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Joe Howard. Funeral services were Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. Burial was in the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor.
