A County Resident 73 Years Dies at 95
Mrs. Mary Jane Gnadt of Carl Junction Was Ill a Week--Funeral Thursday.Carl Junction, Mo., Nov. 10. -- Mrs. Mary Jane Gnadt, 95 years old, oldest resident of Carl Junction and a resident of Jasper county 73 years, died at 1:30 o'clock this afternoon at her home, 54 Joplin street. Her death followed illness of a week. Mrs. Gnadt was active until her recent illness and was a worker in the Methodist church and in the Rebekah lodge. She was born October 21, 1847, in Osage county, Missouri, and came to Jasper county in 1869. Her husband, William A. Gnadt, a veteran of the civil war, died 51 years ago. She had lived in Carl Junction 45 years. Of 14 children born to Mr. and Mrs. Gnadt, only three survive. They are Mrs. Julia Thomason of Galena and Charles and Samuel Gnadt of Joplin. Also surviving are 20 granchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great- great-grandchildren. The body will lie in state at the Roney funeral home until Thursday morning when it will be taken to the Gnadt home. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Carl Junction Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Antle, pastor, in charge. Burial will be in Carl Junction cemetery.
