Daughter of John and Margaret White(Lee)Reeves. Her mother was his 3rd wife, and he had a total of 18 children, all but 1 surviving. Ethel was the 14th child.
Because the family was so large, they didn't bother with a name, just calling her "Baby" until she went to school at age 7 yrs. That day the teacher told her she had to have a "real" name for the book by the end of the day, or she would have to go home. She chose Lillie Ethel, thinking it the most beautiful name ever, only to hate it as she became an adult...she used Ethel always.
She married George Washington Rice February 20 1902 in Central City, NE. The Reeves had left Kentucky and were in Merrick County NE by 1900.
To this union was born,
Lois "Edna" Gruber 22 Apr 1903-07 Feb 1958

The family were in Nebraska until 1935, when they decided to join their daughter Neva, and her family in Oregon. George died just 3 years later, but she lived a full and busy life with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Jehovah's Witness's.
It is said she was a very pious and Christian woman, and the strongest words she ever said was "Oh piffle!" when angry.
