| Birth: | Oct. 4, 1585 | | Death: | Dec. 15, 1618 | Royalty, Holy Roman Empress. She was born in Innsbruck as the last child of Archduke Ferdinand II of Tyrol and his second wife Anna Caterina Gonzaga. In 1611 she married her twenty-eight years older cousin Matthias in Vienna. Although the marriage was very happy it stayed childless. After his brothers death Matthias received the imperial crown and was crowned in 1612. In 1617 the couple founded the Capuchin church with a vault where they wanted to be buried. She died a year later and only three months before her husband. The vault was later enlarged and was used by the following generations of the Habsburg family as a family vault. (bio by: Lutetia)
