LUCY SNAPP, age 91, of Dandridge, TN (Swannsylvania Community) passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Cocke County Baptist Hospital. She attended Lawsons Chapel United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by her husband, French Snapp, Sr. Survivors include her child by birth, Eutha "Blue" (Wayne "Doby") Welch of Chestnut Hill; children by marriage, French (Pat) Owenby Snapp of Newport, Joyce Snapp Finchum of Murfreesboro; six grandchildren, Col. Gary Finchum, Rene and Dennis Bennett, Dana Finchum, French and Debbie Snapp III, Cheryl and Rodger Laws, Tim and Teketa Snapp; several great-grandchildren; and faithful canine Airedale companion, "Toby." A very special family friend, Charles Rhoton, who helped her tend the farm, and special friend, Junior Williams, who checked on her everyday. Funeral services will be held Thursday evening at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Farrar Funeral Home in Dandridge with the Rev. John Clark and Rev. Mike Ladd officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside interment service will be on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. in Phillips Cemetery (Open Door Church) in Newport. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Phillips Cemetery, c/o Frank Blazer, 1324 Blue Spruce Way, Newport, TN 37821 of the Celebrate Life Cancer Support Group, c/o Michelle Sexton, 824 Tucker Place Way, Dandridge, Tn 37725.
