John R. Mullin, 87, died on Jan. 30, 2000, at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis MA. Born in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada, he moved at an early age to Boston, where he was raised and educated. He worked at the Quincy Naval Shipyards.
In the 1950s, Mr. Mullin moved from Boston to Hyannis. He worked for several years at the Colonial Candle Factory. He was a special officer with the Barnstable Police Department and a field supervisor with the Barnstable Municipal Airport for many years. He retired from Barnstable County as an electronic engineer in the 1970s.
An honorary life member of both the Bishop Tyler Assembly and the Knights of Columbus Fr. McSwiney Council-Hyannis, he was a fourth degree knight. He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid model-ship builder.
He was the husband of the late Cora Thacher (Drew) Mullin.
He is survived by his daughters Eleanor K. DeRosa of Cotuit MA and Anne M. Sances of Hyannts; son John D. Mullin of Clearwater FL; sisters Josephine Martin and Eleanor Hanrahen, both of Quincy MA; 15 grandchildren; and 15 greatgrandchildren.
A funeral Mass was celebrated in Christ the King Chapel, Mashpee Commons, Mashpee MA. Burial was in Mosswood Cemetery, Cotuit MA.
