Enlisted in Company G, Seventh Infantry,as Corporal, at Lapeer, for 3 years, age 18. Mustered Dec. 25, 1861. Transferred to Invalid Corps at Berry Hill, Va., Nov. 11, 1863. Discharged from Veteran Reserve Corps at Johnson's Island, Ohio, Jan. 10, 1865. Allegedly in Secret Service and helped track Lincoln's killers. Secret Service has no record of this.
Occupation: Physician. Head of School of Homeopathy at University of Minnesota. Married Julia Pauline Barbour, June 29, 1871, Romeo, Macomb County, Michigan. One known child: Florence Elizabeth Ellis (Brazie) Bockman; married Michael W. Bockman.
