JAMES EARL HOWARD
James Earl Howard, 85, of 52 Mary Street, Binghamton, New York, passed away at 2:20 P.M. Sunday, August 25 at the Binghamton General Hospital after an extended illness.
Mr. Howard was born in Loogootee on July 6, 1889 to the late William and Hester (Cannon) Howard.
He was retired from the Fairbanks Company as a Power Plant Foreman after 43 years of service; he was a past local President of the National Association of Power Engineers and a member of the American Legion Post 82, Endicott, New York. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a son, William J. of Binghamton; a daughter, Mrs. George F. (Pauline) Knapp, of Memphis, Tennessee, a step-daughter, Mrs. Nellie Buell of Rensselaer, New York; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren, a niece; several nephews; 14 step-grandchildren and several step great-grandchildren.
His brother, the late Rev. Rhodolphus [sic] A. [sic] Howard, was a well known Methodist minister in the Loogootee, Indiana area.
