Vincent Mark Kernick is the son of Mark G. Kernick and Catherine Kernick (nee Hetherington).
He married Hertha Grace Barger.

Vincent M. Kernick, 80, Retired Conrail railroad engineer Vincent M. Kernick, 80, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 1996, at St. Vincent Health Center.
He was born in Erie, July 2, 1916, son of the late Mark and Catherine Hetherington Kernick.
He was a lifelong resident of the Erie area, having lived in Summit Township for 46 years.
Mr. Kernick was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.
A graduate of St. Mary's High School, he was a railroad engineer for Conrail, retiring in 1978 with more than 30 years of service. He had also been employed by the New York Central and Penn Central Railroads. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of McKean, the Siebenbuerger Singing Society, the Railroad Retirees Association, a member and past president of the Summit Township Taxpayers Association, and a former Democratic committeeman. His hobbies included carpentry and the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Survivors include his wife, H. Grace Barger Kernick; a son, Vincent M. Kernick Jr. and his wife Patricia of Erie; a grandson, Mark S. Kernick of Erie; three sisters, Bernice M. Fox, Lenore K. Boze, and Martha Hart, all of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.
No visiting hours will be observed. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The Rev. William Loomis of Trinity Lutheran Church of McKean will officiate. Burial will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are being handled by the Scott Funeral Home, West 21st and Myrtle Streets, Erie. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of McKean, 4950 West Main St., McKean, Pa. 16426.
