A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 18, 2012 at Potts Memorial Presbyterian Church in Willard, NC with the Reverend Norman Wheeler officiating.
Mr. Batten was born in Columbus County, NC, to Thomas Jappie and Hellen Smith Batten. He attended Campbell College and worked for the S & B Solomon Company, then for Coleman Supply Company, both in Wilmington, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Murphy Batten, his wife of ten years, Arden Camden Batten, and his brother, Walter C. Batten.
Mr. Batten is survived by his children: Susan Dalton and husband, Kemp, Anne Batten all of Greensboro, Tommy Batten and wife, Melanie of Leland, stepchildren; Jimmy Camden, John Camden and wife, Leilani, Joel Camden and wife, Tracy, Sue Ellen Camden-Lee and husband, John, sisters, Miriam B. Thomas and husband, Bill of Lakeland, FL, Muriel B. Amack and husband, Dalon of Portland, OR, sister-in-law, Doris Batten of Hallsboro, grandchildren: Ryan Dalton, Aaron Wilson, Madison Batten, Kelsey Dalton, and seven step-grandchildren.
