James W. Owens was in the land run of 1889 with my grandmother and they settled in Guthrie, He was injured in a carpentry accident and was confined to a wheelchair for many years, he finally died in 1909, He was the father of 9 children, 2 died as infants, and one in a fatal car accident in 1935, He and Laura Goodwin Owens were some of the first settlers of Guthrie.

I never knew you, you passed away many years before I was born. My Aunt's told me about you, how you were in the 1889 land run and settled in Guthrie where your son Gene (My Father) was born in 1905. With Love, Your Grandson---
