Married Caroline Jane "Carrie" Prichard May 9, 1861. Children of the union include Joshua Calvin, Sarah (Sallie) Ann, Margaret Elizabeth (Lizzie). Emmett David, Mary (Mollie) Lomonia, Hettie Delonia, Colquitt, Ida Corrine, Lillian "Lillie" Melessia, James Elkin, and William Arthur.
Civil War Military Service: Private, Company K, 1st Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry. Captured near Atlanta, GA in August 1864. Prisoner of war at Military Prison, Louisville, KY, Camp Chase, OH, and transferred to Point Lookout, MD in March 1865. When released POWs found their way home on foot.
Moved with his wife and children from Cobb County, Georgia to Cisco, Eastland County, Texas in 1885.
