Our beloved dad, granddad, great-granddad and great-great granddad went home to be with the Lord, September 3, 2011. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Giffie Brewton, his ten siblings, daughter, Linda Sue Hayden, and wife, Doris LaVerne Brewton who passed away just 6 days before him. He is survived by his sons; Chester and wife Brenda, of Pasadena, William and wife, Jeanie of Richmond, daughter, Debbie Andrews and husband, Randall of San Antonio and son-in-law, Bud Hayden, of Virginia, 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Mineral Wells, Texas on May 20, 1921 he was one of eleven children being second from the youngest. He married the love of his life, Doris LaVerne Johnston, on February 22, 1941 sharing 70 years together. Roy joined the United States Marine Corps in 1944 and served our country in the Pacific during World War II., and it was then he felt the call to preach during the invasion of Okinawa. After the surrender of Japan in the occupation of China he traveled throughout and worked with the China Inland Missionaries and helped open up churches throughout Tinsen, China preaching his first sermon at age 21. He returned to Mineral Wells and began Brewton Plumbing Company holding a Master Plumber license. He was elected to the Board of Elders as the youngest elder in the church history at the Central Christian Church which later became First Christian in Mineral Wells. He attended TCU University and Brite Divinity School with a Masters in Divinity devoting his life to ministry in the Disciples of Christ Church for over 50 years. His passion was building new church buildings and he built five throughout Texas in Killeen, Rockdale, Grand Prairie and Corpus Christi. After retiring in 1987 he continued to serve many churches as an interim minister.
