Russell "Woody" Anderson
July 16, 1920 - March 13, 2012
Russell E. "Woody" Anderson, age 91, of Lockport, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Born in Lockport and was a lifelong resident. Retired in 1985 from Union Oil after 33 years of service. Russell was a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force during WWII. A member of the Lockport Golf and Recreation Club and former member of the Sunland Village Golf and Recreation Club. He was an avid golfer and over the years he had multiple Holes-in-One and was very proud of his golf awards.
Preceded in death by his first wife Nina (Dollinger), his second wife Jean (Timm), his parents Edwin and Mary (Wolf) Anderson, his brother Walter and his sisters Viola Anderson Cody and Dorothy Younger.
Survived by his loving nieces who provided for his care, Sharon (Paul) Yack and Joy (Ray) Grohar. Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews also survive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Joliet Area Community Hospice or Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Church St. Station, P.O. Box 780, New York, NY, 10008 would be appreciated. Visitation will be held Monday, March 19th, 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the O'NEIL FUNERAL HOME, 1105 E. 9TH ST. (159TH St.), LOCKPORT. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood.
