STERLING - Joseph P. Arduini, 97, of Sterling, died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at Sterling Pavilion Nursing Home. He was a spring operator at International Harvester Corp., retiring in 1976.
He was born March 18, 1914, in Rock Falls, the son of Phillip and Antonette (Carrino) Arduini. He married Anna Beckman on July 21, 1934. She preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 1984. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Sterling.
Surviving are his children, Michael (Patricia) Arduini of Remsen, Iowa, and Carol (Ed) Halley of Sterling; a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Arduini of Sterling; a brother, Tony (Arlene) Arduini of Rock Falls; 11 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by his sons, Paul Arduini, and one in infancy; his brothers, Paul Arduini, Jim Arduini and Louis Arduini; two sisters, Sunday Pyse and Victoria Pierce; a daughter-in-law, Maureen Arduini; two granddaughters; and a grandson.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with the rosary recited at 6 p.m., Wednesday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Sterling.
A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
