Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday. March 7, from the local First Reformed church for William Riphagen, 85, who passed away Tuesday evening March 4, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Kamerman in Sioux Center.
A brief service for the family was held from the Little- Chapel at 1:00 p m., immediately preceding the church service. Rev. Harry Brewer officiated at the services assisted by Rev. J. Roggen. Burial was made in the Sioux Center Community cemetery, under the direction of Co-operative Funeral Service.
Mr. Riphagen was born in the Netherlands October 5, 1872. He was united in marriage with Lena Meyerman in 1891. They came to America in 1907 and settled on a farm near Sibley where they lived 12 years. They then moved to Maurice, where they lived 4 years, after which they moved to Sioux Center, where for 25 years he served as custodian of First Reformed church.
He leaves to mourn his departure four children, Johanna, Mrs. Henry Kamerman, of Sioux Center; Joe of Sioux Center; Gerrit of Maurice; William of Hull. Also surviving are one brother, Gerrit, in the Netherlands; 20 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, nine children, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
