Samuel Swope who has been in poor health for some time, died at Nevada, Mo. Friday as the result of an attack of chronic mycarditis. He was 82 years old, and was a native of Ohio.
He lived in this community for several years, and at one time resided on the place known as the John Johnston farm. Recently he made his home with his son, Ervin Swope on the Judge Senior farm north west of this city.
He was the father of Fred Swope, of Knob Noster and Daniel Swope of New Mexico. A daughter, Mrs. Ella Kennedy of Cabool, Mo., also survives.
A few years ago he became a member of the Presbyterian church. The remains were brought to this city Sunday morning and the funeral services were conducted by Rev. L. E. Hedrick at the Baptist church. The remains were laid to rest in the LeMonte cemetery beside those of his wife who died a few years ago.
