From an article written by Mary Curtis in the Sullivan County Democrat page 1B Friday June 10 2011:
"James Clark Curtis arrived from Vermont. In 1814 at the age of 16, he became overseer of land owned by his great uncle Edward Greswold.
James Clark Curtis went on to serve as town supervisor for Cochecton, justice of the peace, chairman of the Board of Supervisors for Sullivan County, state assemblyman and then state senator. He was also the first judge for Sullivan County.
Their eldest son, William H Curtis, opened the first store in Callicoon, a general store, during the construction of the Erie Railroad in 1840s. William H became Cochecton town supervisor in the 1850's and Delaware town supervisor in 1870.
William's brother, Charles Taylor Curtis, Mary's great grandfather.
Charles aka CT was a lawyer. His wife was Liddie."
