Alex (Alexander) Williams was a private in the 112th Regiment Infantry Company D of the United States Colored troops. He is also listed on the African American Civil War Memorial in Washington D. C. He is listed on plaque No. D-110.

The 112th Regiment Infantry was organized at Little Rock, Ark., from 5th Arkansas Colored Infantry April 23 to November 8, 1864. Attached to 1st Division, 7th Corps, Dept. of Arkansas, June, 1864, to January, 1865. Colored Brigade, 7th Corps, to February, 1865. 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 7th Corps, to April, 1865. Post and garrison duty at Little Rock, Ark., entire term. Transferred to 113th United States Colored Troops (New) April 1, 1865.
