Charles Wachter "Pete" Brown, born at Bulltail, Raven Rock Road, near Lantz, Frederick County, Maryland. He was named after Doctor Charles L. Wachter, of Sabillasville, Frederick County, Maryland, the physican who delivered him into life. He spent his early years working on his fathers farm at Bulltail.

His brother Ivan had a hackmens license from the Western Maryland Railroad, which both brothers operated from Pen Mar Park to High Rock and beyond to Mt. Quirauk. He started working for the Western Maryland Railroad in 1905, Section # 14 from Highfield to the Western Portal of Jack's Mountain. His Section Forman and future father-in-law was Charles (Herbert) McGlaughlin. He lost his job on the Western Maryland Railroad, in the strike of 1922, as did his father-in-law.

Charles Wachter Brown, 63, Highfield, died at 8:15 0'clock Friday morning at the home on Cascade Road.
He went to his employment at Camp Louise, in the morning and was returned to his home when he became ill.
Mr. Brown was born at Lantz, Frederick County, son of Upton and Clara (Conrad) Brown. He lived lived in the Highfield area all his life. He was a painter and carpenter by trade.
Mr. Brown attended schools at Lantz and attended the Germantown Bethel Church of God.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs Esther B. McGlaughlin Brown, and the following children: Mrs. Joseph F. Huff, Blue Ridge Summit; Herbert U. Brown, Highfield; Mrs. Howard Dixon, Sabillasville Mrs. Robert Hahn, Smithsburg Route 2; Mrs. Herbert Hays, Carlisle Route 1, Lee and Thomas Brown both at home; two brothers; and three sisters; Ivan Brown, Lantz; Russell Brown, Cascade; Mrs. Minnie Harbaugh, Lantz; Mrs. Nettie Harbaugh, Hagerstwon; Mrs, Agnes Willard, Oakland; and 15 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Germantown Bethel Church of God. Burial in the Bethel Cemetery.
