Leo and Helen (Rassette) Buehler rented a farm east of Russell, Kansas. They had farm land as well as pasture for cattle and a few horses. Near the farmhouse they had a garden and also kept pigs, chickens and sometimes sheep.
Leo also worked for John Farmer Oil Company in Russell and later drove a truck for R. C. Williams Company from which he retired. After their son, Larry, married they gave up farming and moved into a home east of Russell just off of Highway 40 near the airport. There they still kept chickens and a garden.
Leo was elected treasurer on March 3, 1949 of the Stevens Point School District Number 57. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Russell. At the time of his death, he had ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
