Jewell Dean Duncan Slaven 29 Aug 1947 - 25 Dec 2011 Jewell Dean Duncan Slaven, 64, of the Paint Rock community, passed away December 25, 2011, at home. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, August 29, 1947, she was preceded in death by her parents, Johnson and Lettie Duncan; sister, Francis Phillips; brothers, Dillard and Kelsie Duncan; nephews and niece, Harold Phillips, Brandon Slaven, and Patty Wilkerson; mother- and father-in-law, Mable and Andy Slaven; and brothers- in-law: Barry, Roy, Johnny, Charles, and Clifford Slaven. She was a member of Paint Rock Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Hershel Slaven; sons: Tony Slaven and wife, Leslie, and Wayne Slaven and wife, Sandy; three grandchildren, brother, Estel Duncan and wife, Nancy; brother-in-law, Robert Slaven and wife, Suzie; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives. Funeral service was to have been conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home with Bro. Dean Barnes and Bro. Rick Slaven officiating.
