Funeral services for Thomas Ulyssess (Grant) Zumwalt, 86, retired Harrison County farmer, were held Monday afternoon at Smith-Rees Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Dr. Floyd D. Rose. Burial was in Battle Grove Cemetery. Grandsons were selected as pallbearers. Mr. Zumwalt died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, February 25, 1955, at Harrison Memorial Hospital following illness of 10 days. A native of Harrison County, Mr. Zumwalt was born June 10, 1868, son of the late James H. and Mahulda Hamilton Zumwalt. He was a member of Boyers Chapel Christian Church. He is survived by four sons, Thomas Zumwalt, Ludlow; J.G. Zumwalt, Horace Zumwalt, and Clay Zumwalt, all of Scott County; two daughters, Mrs. Earl McKinley, Cynthiana Rt 1; and Mrs Homer Reed, Scott County; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Lawrence S. Barnes, Lexington and Mrs. Cecil Crosthwait, Scott County; 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. His wife Mrs. Orpha Giles, preceded him in death November 24, 1945.
