Carlos T. Hahn, age 86, died on March 7, 2012. Carlos was born November 22, 1925 in Shoshone, Idaho, the son of Joseph T. "Chad" Sorensen and Mabel O. Sorensen. In later years, Carlos took the name of his stepfather, Edwin C. "Red" Hahn.

Carlos completed his schooling in Shoshone, and in April 1943 entered the U.S. Navy. He served three years in the Naval Air Corps as a Radio, Radar Operator, and certified Aerial Gunner.

After his discharge, he attended the University of Idaho where he studied Civil Engineering, then on May 7, 1949 married Etta Maxwell of Hagerman.

Carlos worked on various projects starting at the Atomic Energy site near Arco, Idaho, then on a large Atomic Energy facility near Paducah, Kentucky. From there, he went to Saudi Arabia on the construction of the Dhahran Air Base, and on returning to the States, worked on the St. Lawrence Seaway near Ogdensburg, New York. From there to California and the Piping of a large irrigation project, then to Wishon Dam on the Kings River approximately 80 miles east of Fresno, California.

Carlos returned to Shoshone in 1958 where he worked for the Department of Transportation until he retired on the 1st of March 1986.

Carlos belonged to the Masonic Lodge, where he served as Master, and worked with the Job's Daughters for several years.

After retirement he enjoyed woodworking, and traveled to various areas, mostly to find a good fishing spot.

Carlos is survived by a son, Fred (Christine) of Homedale, Idaho; a granddaughter, Jessica Hahn of Homedale, Idaho; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Carlos was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Etta; a daughter, Carla; a grandson, Adam; and his brother, Edwin.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the Shoshone Cemetery, Shoshone, Idaho.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Idaho Youth Ranch in lieu of flowers.
