Maxine was my Mom, and I was only fourteen when she died, but I remember Mom as being a very straightforward and honest person, well-liked by everyone. She had a great artistic talent and plenty of imagination and creativeness. One very clear memory I have was that she made most all our meals and goodies from scratch, hardly ever using a recipe. She was a bit old-fashioned, but I think that was a wonderful attribute in those days. Mom fought cancer during her last couple years of life, finally succumbing in the early hours of October 23, 1971 to go to her final home with the Lord.
