George served as a Private in the 1st Delaware Infantry, Company B during the Civil War.

He was first admitted to the U.S.A General Hospital Fairfax Seminary, Virginia and was later transferred and admitted to the Tilton General Hospital, Delaware on December 2, 1863.

George "Died of "Disease" (Chronic Diarrhea) in the Tilton General Hospital during the war.

He was interred two days later.
