Bernard E Macke,63 years of age, Manhattan,died Friday, April 17, 1970, at a hospital there. He had been a patient earlier at a Kansas City hospital. He had cancer.
He was born May 20, 1906 at Baileyville. He was a electrician for the city of Seneca for 10 years, and a lineman for the Kansas Power and Light Co at Hiawatha, where he lived for 19 years.
Ben leaves many friends who join relatives in the loss of a fine man. He was efficient in his work a friendly and likeable man with a quite sense of humor.
His wife is the former Agnes M Hayes. They have one son, Carrol B Macke, also of the home at Manhattan. Ben also leaves five brothers and one sister: Frank B Macke of Seneca, Henry J Macke of Baileyville, Edward of Yakima Washington, Raymond of Tacoma Washington, Lawrence of Eugene Oregon, and Aurelia, Mrs Elmer Heiman of Baileyville.
He was a member of Seven Dolors church at Manhattan and its Holy Name Society, and member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1832 at Manhattan.
Services were held Monday morning at Seven Dolors church, and burial was at Manhattan.
