| Birth: | Aug. 4, 1875 Bunceton Cooper County Missouri, USA | | Death: | Dec. 31, 1946 Columbia Boone County Missouri, USA |  US Representative from Missouri. He graduated from the Missouri College of Agriculture at Columbia, taught school for five years and subsequently entered the agriculture business at Bunceton, Missouri. He was a member of the State house of representatives 1901-1903 and 1905-1907, became assistant secretary of the State board of agriculture and served from 1908 to 1918. From 1921 to 1924, he was on the editorial staff of the Iowa Homestead Pierce Publications and also engaged in agricultural pursuits. He was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-sixth Congress, March 4, 1919 to March 3, 1921, Sixty-ninth and three succeeding Congresses, March 4, 1925 to March 3, 1933 and to the Seventy-fourth and three succeeding Congresses, January 3, 1935 to January 3, 1943. In 1943 he served as assistant to War Food Administrator Marvin Jones and after his term he became active in rural life and farming until his death. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
