Juanita Genell Mills was born on April 14th, 1936, in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of James Howard and Ida Mae (Johnson) Mills. Juanita was known for her many positive qualities. As a young lady, she was an honor student who was active in the Baptist church and played the clarinet. Those who knew her remember her as patient, well-mannered, and poised. She was both beautiful and intelligent, and she never stopped educating herself. Juanita was the caring mother of one son and three daughters. Though Juanita passed away at a young age, she lives on in the hearts of her children and grandchildren through the legacy of love that she passed down to her many descendants. Juanita (Mills) Minnick died of cancer at the Bremerton Naval Hospital in Bremerton, Washington on October 16th, 1970, and was laid to rest along side her mother at the Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida. ------------- Still living [as of May 2012] are her two brothers, Harold Bert Mills (wife Peggy) of The Villages, Florida, and James Howard Mills Jr. (wife Martha) of Jacksonville, Florida, and several half-siblings. Also living are her four children: Donna Lynn Salis of Mallard, Iowa; Jerry Randall Salis Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida; Teresa Jane (Bloomfield) Applegate (husband Steven) of Damascus, Virginia; and Laurie Ann (Johnson) Schmidt (husband Kent) of Travis Air Force Base, California.
