Bessie Lou Allen, 80, of Blossom, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3rd, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Evan Butler officiating. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Bessie, the daughter of Walter & Ludie Holland Lewis, was born May 30, 1931, in Lamar County.

She married Travis Leon "Cotton" Allen on March 24, 1951. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1995.
She was a member of the Blossom Church of Christ.

Her career with Brookshires spanned 38 years before her retirement in 1996.

Preceding in death are her husband, her parents, a sister, Eunice Goodman, and five brothers, Elba Meeks, Lois Meeks, Clarence Lewis, Bill Lewis and Boots Lewis.

Survivors include a son, Travis Stanley Allen of Cedar Hill, three daughters, Patricia Lynn Northam & husband Ronnie of Cumby, Rita Gwen Redus & husband Richard of Paris and Lindsay Fara Dennington & husband John of Blossom, three grandchildren, Lance Northam & wife Laci, Adam Northam & wife Sarah and Parker Allen Dennington, a great granddaughter, Emma Northam, a niece Marjorie Clem of Paris, a great nephew, Norman Clem of Paris along with several other nieces and nephews.

Casket bearers will be: Terry Oliver, Kenny Oliver, Wayland Oliver, Bradley Sessums, George Wood and Kevin Anderson. Honorary bearers will be: Gary Oliver and Jerry Allen.
