| Birth: | Jan., 1835 Pickens County, USA | | Death: | Apr. 20, 1867 Livingston Park County Montana, USA |  Pioneer. He headed west from Georgia to Colorado in 1858. However, after his claims there discovered that the they had no gold to pan out, he moved to Montana in 1862. He, along with John Jacobs, blazed the Bozeman Trail, a cutoff route from the Oregon Trail that traced from Wyoming to Bannack, Montana, in 1863 (the former trail closed in 1868 because of the Indian Wars). The same year, he discovered Bozeman, Montana, and the Gallatin Valley (which he thought as a most desirable place to live) and the following year, the town was founded. In 1867, he with Tom Cover, was attacked by the Sioux Indians near the Yellowstone River, and he was murdered there. (bio by: Bona Rae Villarta)

John Bozeman married Lorinda Catherine Ingram in Georgia and they had three little girls Nancy Delilah, Malinda Jane, and Mary. The wife and daughters he left behind in Georgia endured the Civil War on their own. He was never forgotten and his daughters...(Read more) -
