She was the daughter of Jacob Haskell. She married 1st Henry Bowman; they had two daughters, Margaret E. Bowman (born 1857 in Platte Co., Missouri) and Mary Jane Bowman, born January 10, 1858).
She married 2nd widower Rev. John A. Johnson on September 3, 1863 in Platte Co., Missouri; they had five children all born at their father's farm near Waldron, Platte Co., Missouri: Walter Raleigh Johnson (mar. Elizabeth Walker), Martha Ann "Belle" Johnson (d. age 16), Rosa Johnson Dempsey Knight, Joseph Alonzo Johnson (mar. Bessie Conger), and Ulysses Grant "Grant" Johnson, who never married.
Sarah Haskell Bowman Johnson married 3rd to a Mr. McNelta and 4th to Mr. F.M. Knight.
In later life she lived with her son Grant Johnson in his log cabin near Easton, Kansas and was going by the name of Sarah Johnson when she died there.
