Ackerman, Ellen Katherine "Katy" 97, of Aurora, IL passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, February 21, 2012. She was born May 31, 1914 in Rosedale, IN, the daughter of Adam and Maude Cabbach. Katy, as known to her family and friends, was a wonderful mother and homemaker. She especially enjoyed baking and cooking. Katy touched many lives during more than nine decades and will be sorely missed, but also fondly remembered for her love of hats. Beloved wife of Claude W. Ackerman for 60 years, loving daughter Patricia M. (Rick) Coleman of North Aurora, IL and a daughter from a previous marriage, Martha A. (Ross) Stead of Angola, IN. Cherished grandmother and great grandmother of many from the Stead and Betrus families. Katy was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Maxine Cabbach Wilkinson, brother Donald Cabbach and a son from a previous marriage Phillip J. Betrus of McAllen, TX. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the owners of Neighbors Next Door, Sheila and David White and their staff for their love and care for Katy and to Vitas Hospice Care for their attention and professionalism.
