Harold R. Lockhart, 80, of Palestine, W.Va., passed away Feb. 27, 2012, at Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.

He was the son of the late Ivan and Ica (Lott) Lockhart, was a 1949 graduate of Wirt County High School, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and retired from Johns Manville after several years of service. He made rounds at local businesses on a daily basis, he helped many businesses and local charities. He was always willing to give a hand whenever it was needed.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janice (Kidder) Lockhart; four children, Steve (Juanita) Lockhart of Elizabeth, W.Va., Debra (Lewis) Ruble of Palestine, Michael (Susan) Lockhart of Elizabeth, and Robert (Darlene) Lockhart of Palestine; six grandchildren, Amy Lockney of Palestine, Amber (Josh) Jones of Parkersburg, Jason Lockhart of Elizabeth, Erica Lockhart of Davisville, W.Va., Brad Lockhart of Palestine, and Crystal (Timmy) Myers of Palestine; four great grandchildren, Katy and Zack Lockney, Gerad Lockhart and Parker Myers; and one sister-in-law, Pauline Lockhart of Palestine.

He was preceded in death by both parents; infant daughter, Patricia Lockhart; one brother, Melvin Lockhart; and one nephew, Randy Lockhart.

Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth with the Rev. Lee Williams and the Rev. Delmas Stutler officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today. Interment will be at Shiloh Cemetery of Palestine.
