Sarah C. Dakin married Myndert V. Wemple September 26, 1847 in her father-Jacob Dakin home in Dansville, Ingham, Michigan.
The following is taken from a note written my LuLu (Wemple) Binding, Harmen Wemple's Jr. Sister "told of her remembrance of her grandparents:
"Myndert was handsome with brown eyes and dark hair while Sarah was a "Irish" red head with blue eyes. Myndert was an adventurer and went off to California 4 times after gold and left his wife to care for the kids the best she could. Her parents helped them. His wander lust alienated the couple for they stayed apart after he returned the last time emply handed. There was a divorse-date unknown and Sarah married again.
Later silver was discovered on Myndert's farm, after he died and his father signed off to his sister for caring for them. I knew this at the time my father signed off his rights.
My father (Harman Wemple Sr) and Mother (Eudora Boone) were born in New York, were scotch, Irish and English. Grandpa had brown eyes and dark hair while Grandma was a Irish red head with blue eyes. I knew her well and my Dad was like her in looks and Grandpa was a handsome man. I only saw him once when he came after Uncle Elliot to take him to MO.
I understand my dad as most of the other kids did not, I knew what he was up against with mother as she was like some of her offspring. My grandma told me the secerts of the couple, as I was envolved afterward.
I loved my Dad as the rest dident (sic) He was a good father to us all if we behaved ourselves."
Myndert took his daughters and Uncle Elliot (who was paralyzed and helpless )to West Plains, MO. LuLu never saw her Grandfather but once, but knew her grandmother well."
Frank Binding, LuLu husband was from Missouri as the couple lived there before coming to the Lansing area.
Aunt Lulu also hinted at another scandle involving her mother and father of which I (Audrey)had already heard rumours. I did not find any other facts about what the scandle was.
Sarah married Jonathan July 4, 1875 in Gaylord, Otsego, Michigan.
