Funeral services for Shirley Irene Andreu Smith, 81, of Columbus
and formerly of Greenville will be Saturday at 3 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home,
Greenville. She died Aug. 3, 2005, at Winsor Place Nursing Home in Columbus, MS.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Greenville.
Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 3, 1924, in St. Augustine, Fla., to Earl and Irene
Andreu. She grew up in St. Augustine. She graduated from
Ketterlinus High School, St. Augustine, FL, in the Class of 1944.
In 1946, she married Henry Carter Smith, and they moved
to Greenville, where she lived until moving to Columbus in 1998. She was a
longtime communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was employed with Sears
Roebuck for 18 years until she retired in 1992. She enjoyed playing bridge and
was a member of the Merry Garden Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Irene Andrea, and her
husband, Henry Carter Smith.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Andreu Smith Sr. and his wife, Linda, of
Greenville and Clinton Stephen Smith of Columbus; one daughter, Melanie Skeen of
Vardaman; four grandchildren, Michael Andreu Smith Jr. of Asheville, N.C., Eric
Lee Smith of Phoenix, Ariz., and Jonethan Kyle Skeen and Katie Skeen, both of
Vardaman; and two sisters, Earlene Carson and Nanette Andreu, both of St.
Visitation is today from 7 to 8 p.m. at Smith Funeral Home, Greenville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
