| Birth: | May 18, 1926 Wisconsin, USA | | Death: | Jul. 4, 2003 Brookfield Waukesha County Wisconsin, USA |  Physician and researcher. Known as the "Grandfather of Nuclear Medicine." He devoted his entire life to helping his patients. In 1958, he joined the staff in internal medicine at what is now Zablocki Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He became a hematologist and began the study of nuclear medicine. He later became clinical director of the nuclear medicine laboratory at the VA. Dr. Ruetz was one of the first people in the country to be trained in clinical ultrasound. He established the first nuclear lab at St. Mary's Hospital in 1964.
