Louise Phyllis Hunnicutt Helms, 93, of Greenville, went to be with her Lord, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 11, 2008.

Born in Maryville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Fred Roscoe and Mollie Anna Biddle Hunnicutt.

She was a homemaker, a member of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, the Republican Women's Club, University Park Garden Club, the Greenville Women's Club, on the board of Miracle Hill Ministries, and a member of the S.C. Commission on Aging.

She is survived by a daughter, Ann Eastland of Greenville; a son, Jesse Lee Helms, Jr.; a brother, James R. Hunnicutt; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Helms was predeceased by her husband and former Mayor of Greenville, Jesse Lee Helms, Sr.; her daughter, Doris Louise Blair; two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral service was held on Friday, June 13, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church followed by a private entombment in Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation was prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, 207 Mitchell Road, Greenville, SC 29615, Miracle Hill Industries 2419-B, Wade Hampton Blvd., Greenville, SC 29615, or a charity of ones choice.
