Born in Maryville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Fred Roscoe and Mollie Anna Biddle Hunnicutt.
She was a homemaker, a member of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, the Republican Women's Club, University Park Garden Club, the Greenville Women's Club, on the board of Miracle Hill Ministries, and a member of the S.C. Commission on Aging.
She is survived by a daughter, Ann Eastland of Greenville; a son, Jesse Lee Helms, Jr.; a brother, James R. Hunnicutt; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Helms was predeceased by her husband and former Mayor of Greenville, Jesse Lee Helms, Sr.; her daughter, Doris Louise Blair; two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral service was held on Friday, June 13, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church followed by a private entombment in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation was prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. in the church.
