Born in Letcher County, she was a daughter of the late T.R. and Maggie Meade Collier. She was married to the late Mayo Anderson and after his death married the late John O. Smith. She was a sister of the late Hillard Collier and Daniel Collier.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church in Whitesburg.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandy Jackson and husband Ozz, Whitesburg; a son, Terry Anderson and wife Pam, Whitesburg; a half-sister, Billie Joyce Quillen, Cleveland, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Shearer K. Goode and husband Joe, Cumming, Ga., and Susan A. Vanover and husband Tim, Jenkins; a stepson, John O. Smith II and wife Faye, Johnson City, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Michael Jackson, Isom; Shelli Robeson, Lexington; Blake Hall and C.J. Anderson, both of Whitesburg; and Ashley Anderson, Richmond; five great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held August 14 at the First Baptist Church in Whitesburg. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.
