In 1916 he served with the 1st New York Cavalry on the Mexican border. During the WW I he was a Sergeant with the 100th and 4th Machine Gun Battalion, 27th Division, with service in France and Belgium. After the war he engaged in the import and export shipping business in New York City and was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-first and Eighty-second Congresses, January 3, 1949 to January 3, 1953. In 1954 he became New York city councilman for the Borough of Staten Island, serving to 1958 and was a shipping broker until his death. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
