Eva was living with her parents when the March 23rd 1917 New Albany tornado struck their house and killed her mother. Eva's father was not at home at the time of the tragedy, however Eva was. Although she was injured, Eva survived the catastrophic event. She passed away at the Methodist Home in Franklin, Johnson County, Indiana, on September 23, 1869, and was buried next to her parents in Fairview Cemetery, New Albany.
