Tommy Joe Reynolds of The Woodlands, Texas passed from this life Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the age of 65 years and 3 months surrounded by his family and friends at the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Tommy was escorted back to Durant, Oklahoma by National Guard Member David Hughes. He was born on Satruday, November 23, 1946 to the late Alvin J. and Dorothy L. (Wixom) Reynolds in Durant, Oklahoma. Tommy married Cathey Meek in Sherman, Texas on Tuesday, September 23, 1969.
Tommy said, "I loved my family, wife & kids, could not have asked for a better one." He served in the Oklahoma National Guard and the United States Army from February 13, 1965 to August 18, 1972. He served in Vietnam with C Company, 169th Engineer Battalion from 1967 - 1969. He retired from OGE Corporation in 2003.
Mr. Reynolds is survived by his ; wife, Cathey Ann Meeks Reynolds of the home; daughter, Elizabeth N. "Libby" and husband Andrew and grandson Josiah Fournier all of Sierra Vista, Arizona; son, Thomas "Josh" Reynolds and wife Tomoko of The Woodlands, Texas; siblings; Calvin Reynolds, Doris Harris and husband Jessie of Durant, Oklahoma and Betty Kashou of Durant, Oklahoma; father in law, Doyle Maxey and mother in law, Elizabeth of Calera, Oklahoma; sister in law, Karen and husband Robert Clay of McAlester, Oklahoma; brother in law, Charles Lance Maxey of Calera, Oklahoma; brother in law the late Tedwin Vance Maxey and wife Lisa Maxey of Cartwright, Oklahoma; brother in law, Glenn T. and wife Linda Maxey of Calera; brother in law, Jim and wife Kim Meeks, Mena, Arkansas; brother in law, Denis and wife Angela Meeks of Crandall, Texas. He was blessed to have several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
Mr. Reynolds was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin J. and Dorothy L. Reynolds; one sister, Lisa Marie Stowe; grandparents, Charlie and Thelma Reynolds of Colbert, Oklahoma; grandparents, Dow and Josephine Wixom of Durant, Oklahoma and several other loved ones.
Family Hour will be from 6-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Holmes~Coffey~Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma. A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 2, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Calera, Oklahoma with Rev. Gary Howard and Rev. Jacob Toews officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma. Pallbearers from O G & E will be Kenny Bob Howard, Wayne Tow, Tim Davis, John Beck, Larry Muck and Gary Parsons. Vietnam Veteran Pallbearers will be Larry Kraatz, Louis Teleky, Henry Griffin, Lyle Huemoller, Eddie Yelton, Jim Clifford and John Czerwinski. Honors will be provided by the United States Army from Ft. Sill and the Patriot Honor Guard.
