Elden John Ferrell was born 1/13/1908 In Vale S. D. to Effie Rosealpha (Olney) Ferrell and George Washington Ferrell. He grew up in Vale, S. D. As a boy, he helped his family until he was about 13 years old. He then went on his own, learning to be a baker, among other things. He ran a bakery in Buffalo, South Dakota. Elden worked many places including Fallon and Terry, building dams and knew a lot of people. In Faith, South Dakota he married Winifred Schetnan. To this union one girl and five boys were born - Phyllis Jean, Elden Duane, Gary Lee, Thomas Dean, Eugene Enoch and James LeRoy. Elden worked in Broadus, Montana where he owned a bakery. After a fire destroyed his bakery, he moved his family to Miles City where he worked as a mechanic, then on construction as an operator and mechanic for many years. Winifred passed away in 1951 after long term illness.

Elden was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Phyllis Jean.

Elden later married Lealta (Jones) Beeler.
