Musician, Singer, Songwriter. Born in Kirbyville, Texas, he was a prolific songwriter and a piano player, known as Ivory Joe for his silky voice. During the 1940s and 1950s, he started his own label, Ivory Records and wrote some of the most classic endurable songs of all time. Among his more then 7000 songs, his hits included "I Need You So", "Can't Explain How It Happened", "Since I Met You Baby", "Empty Arms" and "I Almost Lost My Mind". In the 1960s and 1970s, he made regular appearances at the Grand Old Opry and performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival. He died in Memphis, Tennessee. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
