Paul "Bud" A. Weller, March 18, 1927 - May 20, 2003, Paul A. "Bud" WELLER, 76, died at 11 a.m. Tuesday at his Kewanna residence. Born in Kewanna to Claude Victor and Caroline BAIR WELLER, he married Renata WIMMER June 7, 1954, in Kewanna. She survives. Mr. Weller retired as a U.S. Army Sgt. First Class after 22 years service. He retired from Winamac Coil Spring, Kewanna, and was a security officer at Methodist Hospital, San Antonio, Texas. He was a member of Kewanna Church of Christ, charter member and original commander of Kewanna Veterans of Foreign Wars and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was a former member of Kewanna American Legion, Kewanna IOOF, Kewanna Fire Department and a former Kewanna town marshal. Mr. Weller was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam War. He received the Army of Occupation Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal and citation for meritorious service and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal six times. Surviving with his wife, at home, are one son, Jim [WELLER] and wife Kimberly, Lafayette; two daughters, Claudia NEWCOMER and husband Rick, Rochester, and Sharon WELLER and husband Mark McELWAIN, Zionsville; one stepdaughter, Renate MONTZ, Kewanna; one stepson, Wilhelm OBERLOBER, San Antonio, Texas; and three grandchildren, Matthew WELLER, Heather NEWCOMER and David McELWAIN; and four step-grandchildren. Preceding in death were his parents, two brothers, two sisters, one grandson and one nephew. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Harrison-Metzger Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel, with Rev. Todd WILSON officiating. Burial will be at Kewanna Citizens IOOF Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home and after 8 a.m. Friday until time of service. Graveside military rites will be conducted. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
