MRS. BEN WRITER
Relatives here have been informed of the death Sept. 22 at Los Angeles of Mrs. Ben Writer, 59, formerly of this city, after an illness of about a year and an operation in December from which she never recovered.
A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Richard Maples, she was born at Whitefish Bay Sept. 9, 1884, and was married to Mr. Writer of Sawyer Aug. 21, 1904. Her maiden name was Lucy Maples.
The family went to California about 31 years ago, and the only time Mrs. Writer returned to Door county was on a visit six years ago.
Surviving are the husband and the following children: Mrs. M. (Cora) Morrow, Los Angeles; Capt. Cornelius Maples, Tulekike, Calif.; Mrs. William (Flora) Perry, Petoskey, Mich.; Mrs. Martin (Jessie) Passolt, Oshkosh; Mrs. Joseph (Fannie) Coopman, Green Bay; Nell and Dewey Maples, Sawyer, and Mrs. Thomas (Harriet) Pallister, Sturgeon Bay.
No one from here was able to attend the funeral which was held at Los Angeles.
