CHILDREN FLOCK TO SCHOOL DENTAL CLINIC; LIKE IT!
"It didn't hurt a bit," said Jeanette Smith, 8, yesterday at the newly opened school children's dental clinic, 642 West Thirty-second street, and perhaps her parents can echo the sentiment. Because the clinic, directed by Dr. Verne L. G. Wilt, head of the public school dental unit, has been organized to give free dental attention to children who are desperately in need of it. Many children already are patients at the clinic and like it.
REDUCED BY BUDGET
The city school budget cuts reduce the time of dental surgeons to mornings only, so Dr. Wilt and five associates inaugurated the clinic. The others are Drs. Otto A. Ross, Clara A. Carbinier, John B. Hopkins, Harold R. Riedel and (brother-in-law) C. Gilbert Girdlestone.
"Where there is a small family income, the parents are expected to pay a fraction of the usual charge to help defray the expenses of the clinic," said Dr. Wilt.
CLINIC NON-SECTARIAN
The clinic is non-sectarian, and appointments may be made through nurses, physicians, principals, teachers and social service workers.
Several girls of the dental attendant classes at Los Angeles Junior college act as cadets at the school to obtain their necessary 50 hours of practical work before graduation. Young men dental students are keeping up the house and ground, which soon will include a play area for little patients awaiting their turn. The clinic will be open every week-day from 1 to 4:30 p.m.

On Mar. 20, 1937, 43 yr. old Verne L. G. Wilt and 27 yr. old Ethel E. (Elizabeth) Crippin, both residents of Los Angeles, CA., were married in Mohave, AZ., according to Arizona Marriage Records for 1865-1972.

29 yr. old wife, Ethel E Wilt, a clerk for the public schools, b. in Montana
Verne and Ethel lived in the same place in 1935.
The highest grade Verne had completed was his 5th year of College and Ethel was a high school graduate.

Ethel also worked 40 hours in the week prior to the census and 52 weeks in 1939.
